How do I add a digital gift card to my mobile wallet?

1. Follow the prompts supplied by The Card Network via SMS or Email

2. Download the TCN app to your phone
   a) Apple: Click here.

3. Add the gift card to your phone’s digital wallet

4. Use tap and go to redeem funds within The Star venue
   Note: If you are having trouble and receive an invalid message or $0.00 funds, please log our and log back into your TCN app to allow for a refresh and update to your digital gift card.

Do I need to activate my gift card?

All physical gift cards arrive ready for use and do not need to be activated.

Digital gift cards will be activated upon purchase at point of sale. Please allow up to 24 hours from time of purchase for funds to be loaded on to the digital card. 

How do I use my Star gift card?

Your Star gift card can be used just like an eftpos card. Simply present either your physical gift card or digital gift card at the participating venue and either swipe or scan the card through the participating outlet’s eftpos terminal. Physical gift cards require you to select “savings” and then enter the “PIN” on the back of your card. Digital gift cards will automatically process when scanned.

If the transaction amount exceeds the card’s balance, you will need to pay for the remaining amount via cash or card. 

Do I need to present my gift card at the participating venue to use the card?

Yes, to use your Star gift card, whether it is a digital gift card or a physical gift card, you will need to present it to the participating venue so that it can be swiped or scanned through their eftpos terminal. 

Do I earn Casino Dollars and Tier Points when purchasing The Star Gift Card?

No. Members of The Star Club do not earn member benefits when purchasing The Star Gift Card.

Do I earn Casino Dollars and Tier Points when using The Star Gift Card as a payment method?

Yes. Members of The Star Club can earn both Casino Dollars and Tier Points for purchases made with The Star Gift Card at participating venues, when using their Membership Card. See above for participating outlets.

Can I use my Member Discount when purchasing The Star Gift Card?

No. Member Discounts for Members of The Star Club  do not apply to The Star Gift Card purchases.

Can I use my Member Discount when using The Star Gift Card as a payment method?

Yes. Members of The Star Club can use their Membership Card at participating venues to redeem Member Discounts, and then the remaining balance of the transaction can use The Star Gift Card as the payment method.

If my transaction is greater than the amount on my gift card, can I pay the rest with cash or credit card?

Yes, you can.

Do I need to spend my gift card all in one transaction or with one retailer?

No. You can choose how and where you spend your gift card. Any remaining balance after your transaction will stay on your card as long as it’s valid and can be used for future purchases. 

What happens if I do not use the full amount of my gift card in one transaction?

Your gift card is multi-usable and you can use it for future purchases prior to the expiry date. 

Are there any restrictions on when I can use my gift card?

Your gift card will only be accepted at participating venues, prior to the expiry of the gift card. See above for participating outlets.

If I want to use my gift card at a restaurant or spa, do I need to make a booking?

Some of our participating venues may require you to book a time prior to your visit. We recommend you contact the venue for further details.

I want to use my gift card for a hotel booking?

Hotel guests will be required to present their Star gift card on check-in and provide their own credit card as a security deposit.

Can I reload my gift card?

No, gift cards are not reloadable. 

Do I receive change on a gift card transaction?

No, however your gift card can be used again prior to the expiry date and until the balance reaches a nil value.

Do gift cards expire?

Yes. Your gift card is valid for 36 months from the date of purchase. Some gift cards for promotions might have a shorter expiry date. This will be included in the promotional terms and conditions. If the date is not written on the back of the card, it is your responsibility to check your card balance and expiry date on the website. 

What happens if I have not used all the funds when the gift card expires?

Once the gift card has expired, the remaining value will no longer be available. We encourage you to use your gift card before it expires.

Can I use my gift card to withdraw cash out of an ATM at The Star?

No. You can only use your gift card for purchases at participating venues. See above for participating outlets.

By purchasing, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, the bearer accepts and agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use and acknowledges that they have read and understood The Star’s privacy policy which is available at www.star.com.au. The card will be activated upon purchase at point of sale. Please allow up to 24 hours from time of purchase for funds to be loaded on to the card. The card is valid from the date of activation. Based on variations of applicable state laws, the expiry period for your card may vary. The relevant expiry period is printed on the back of your card and you can also check the remaining period of use and the card balance here. 4. The bearer of an EFTPOS Gift Card may use the Gift Card to make purchases of goods and services at participating outlets at The Star where EFTPOS is available with the exception of tobacco or non-tobacco smoking products. The bearer of a Digital Prepaid Mastercard may use it to make purchases of goods and services at participating outlets at The Star where Mastercard is available with the exception of tobacco or non-tobacco smoking products.

5. The Star outlets where Gift Cards are accepted may change from time to time. Below are the current outlets Gift Cards can be used. Brisbane: Treasury Brisbane Hotel and Ryan's on the Park.

6. The Card cannot be used to make transactions that exceed the available balance. For such a transaction you need to pay the difference by another method if the merchant agrees.

7. Gift Cards are not redeemable for cash and cannot be redeemed for gaming purposes.

8. Any balance which is not redeemed within the validity period may not be redeemed after the expiry date.

9. Lost, damaged or stolen Gift Cards will not be replaced or refunded.

10. Goods that are purchased solely or in part with a Gift Card may be exchanged or returned subject to the exchange and returns policy of each participating outlet. Any refunds on Card transactions are subject to the policy of the specific merchant. If the Card expires or is revoked before you have spent any funds resulting from a refund (whether or not the original transaction being refunded was made using the Card) then you will have no access to those funds.

11. The bearer is liable for all transactions on their Gift Card, except to the extent to which there has been fraud or negligence by The Star or its employees.

12. In the event of suspected fraud or improper use of a Gift Card, The Star reserves the right to suspend (pending investigation) or cancel any Gift Card.

13. The Star reserves the right to cancel the Gift Card scheme for any reason at any time. In these circumstances, any cards issued prior to the cancellation or revocation will be valid until their expiry date has elapsed,or may be refunded at the sole and absolute discretion of The Star.

14. These Terms of Use are to be construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of Queensland.

When we refer to the Pays, we are referring to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay and further, when we refer to a Device, we are referring to a mobile phone or wearable device that allows you to store a Card to the Device. Pays availability is subject to your respective Card program sponsor and device capability. Although the Card is Pays enabled, availability of the Pays is contingent upon the card program you have signed-up for. In addition, Cardholders associated with Pays enabled programs must ensure their device is Pays capable. This means your device must have the ability to store the Card and actuate a purchase.

 Mastercard is not liable in circumstances where you have other cards stored on your Device for payment and you inadvertently use the Card when using your Device as a payment method. You must ensure that you select the correct card prior to using your Device as a payment method.

 Mastercard is not liable for transactions on your Card if your Device security measures are compromised, where you allow others access to, or the means to access your Device or any other circumstances in which you allow others to circumvent the security measures of your Device.
